DALLAS (Nov. 17, 2020) – Ryan, a leading global tax services and software provider, announced the acquisition of the Real Estate Tax Group (RETG), a market leader in property tax consulting primarily serving clients in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. Based in New Orleans, Louisiana, RETG specializes in property tax consulting and appeals, real estate valuation, and economic development incentives procurement for clients in the hotel, office, retail, and commercial real estate markets.
The strategic acquisition adds a team of highly qualified property tax professionals with more than 60 years of combined experience to Ryan’s industry-leading property tax team, which is the largest property tax practice in North America. The deal also adds significant relationships to Ryan’s client portfolio, who will benefit from Ryan’s strong property tax expertise and comprehensive corporate tax solutions.
Karl Kehoe, co-founder of RETG, will join Ryan as principal in the Property Tax practice. Mr. Kehoe has more than 30 years of experience in property tax consulting. His expertise includes ad valorem tax appeal and consulting, in addition to state and local tax incentive program procurement.

Brint Ryan. “This acquisition is consistent with Ryan’s strategy of acquiring firms with the most experienced talent in their market segments and is yet another milestone in Ryan’s strategic growth vision and goal of becoming the leading global brand in tax.”
“Given their unrivaled reputation in the industry, joining the Ryan team made a lot of sense from a business perspective. The RETG team will continue providing clients with expert representation in property tax matters, while also offering expanded capabilities that will add significant value to our client relationships,” said Mr. Kehoe. “Additionally, the dynamic work culture at Ryan is attractive to our team, and we are excited to work with such a knowledgeable and skilled group of tax professionals.”
